Will I ever be able to get a job?

When I was 14, I got in trouble shoplifting at a clothing store. I didn't take enough to even have the police called, but I was "prosecuted". I had to pay a fine and I'm not allowed to go in any of their clothing stores/lines for 3 years. I live in California, if it makes a lot of difference, but for any state in the US: Does this go on my permanent record? Will I have to tell employers about this in interviews? Or will this inhibit me from getting any retail jobs in the future??
